The Ford Mustang Dark Horse represented the proverbial pinnacle of performance with the model only being surpassed in this regard by the Mustang GTD. Ford knew it had to make a true bridge between the standard Dark Horse and the GTD to help unify the two models.

The company has formally unveiled the fruits of their labor, the all-new Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC which brings a supercharged transplant into the engine bay.

Dark Horse SC flexes its supercharged muscles

As the last two letters of its name implies, the SC is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8. Ford didn’t reveal final horsepower numbers but the previous generation Shelby GT500 provides a clue with that model making 760 hp before it and the Romeo Engine plant that produced the engines went off into retirement. With this precedent, it’s safe to assume that power could potentially eclipse 770 hp.

A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is standard and the SC gets Magneride dampers and revised spring rates among other suspension upgrades. The SC also gets a magnesium strut brace under the hood to try and shave some weight. A new front fascia improves airflow with the piece getting bigger vents and openings to pump in more air. An aluminum hood is lighter than the standard Dark Horse’s and it also helps generate more down force when the rain tray is removed.

GTD infused interior adds character, Track Pack spices things up

The interior of the GTD SC is purpose built with the GTD providing its flat-bottomed steering wheel while Recaro sport seats provide plenty of support and comfort. Splashes of carbon fiber are also standard and Alcantara accents provide a welcome pinch of contrast.

The optional Track Pack adds more goodies to the interior and the exterior gets its own suite of upgrades including GTD sourced carbon-ceramic disc brakes. The Track Pack also gives the car a bigger rear spoiler and a revised diffuser.

When can I buy one?

In addition to not sharing final output numbers, Ford also chose to not reveal final pricing information but look for the final price to be a sizable premium over a standard Dark Horse which starts at $66,075. In addition to the Track Pack, Ford will also be offering a special Teal treatment for the former that adds teal accents to the brake calipers, brakes, seat belts, and badging while a separate Carbon Fiber accent package.

As a bonus, Ford will also be offering a Track Pack Special Edition (aka a Launch Edition) for 2026. These models are only available in either Shadow Black or Oxford White with the seats getting Solar Red accents. Deliveries are scheduled to start this summer with ordering opening up in Spring.
