Hyundai has just announced its is launching a recall of over 96,310 Tucsons to address a fault that can cause the digital instrument cluster to stop functioning while driving which can create a serious safety hazard while out on the road.

Tucsons from 2025-2026 model year impacted

The recall formally covers 96,310 Tucsons from the 2025-2026 model year, and also includes both of the hybrid versions. Hyundai says the displays can be affected by a software fault between the instrument cluster and the heads-up display which can cause the digital instruments to actually reboot repeatedly while the vehicle is moving.

When this happens, the driver might not be able to see crucial vehicle information including the fuel gauge. This not only prevents the driver from having real time data for things like speed, fuel level, and other functions. It also fails to meet federal regulations.

Hyundai first learned of the problem in July of 2025 after a customer complained the gauges would stop working. The company investigated the issue and eventually discovered an intermittent connection issue with the external harness for the HUD. This finding prompted Hyundai to launch a formal recall into this issue.

No accidents or injuries and a plan is in place

Thankfully, this issue has not resulted in any reported injuries, accidents or other serious consequences, but Hyundai will be sending notifications instructing drivers of affected vehicles to bring them in to the dealership for service.

A technician will formally update the software for the instrument cluster, but the company says it is trying to develop an Over-The-Air-Update to formally correct the issue without the need to bring it into a service center and will release it when it is ready.
