Heavy is the burden of one who wears the crown, and in the case of the Ford F-150, it’s a crown that it has worn for 49 years in a row. The F-150 has always stood out thanks to its willingness to try new things and also offering a balanced trim ladder for buyers to choose from.
But with Chevrolet and GMC preparing to debut new versions of the Silverado and Sierra, respectively, Ford has decided to give the F-150 a glow-up for the 2027 model year.
Incremental updates

When we say a glow-up, we mean it in the most literal sense, with the company choosing to apply light updates to a design that’s coming off a major revamp a few years ago. The front grille and headlights were tweaked to create a tougher look, with Ford altering the thickness of the grille itself. The wheel designs have also been tweaked, but other than these minor changes, the rest of the exterior carries over, which allows the truck to maintain a high degree of familiarity.

The biggest news here, though, is the addition of the F-150 Carhartt. This model is the second member of the Carhartt family and builds upon the company’s long-standing relationship with Carhartt. While the Super Duty got novel-looking wheels, the smaller F-150 gets more visually desirable 20-inch wheels and borrows touches from other F-150 models, including the hood from the Tremor and headlights lifted from the Lobo. It’s based on the XLT trim.

But the inside of the Carhartt is where things really shine, with the cabin getting seat covers that replicate the canvas material and colors used in Carhartt jackets, with the iconic triple stitching from these pieces of apparel being used on the door panels, seat pockets, and the glovebox. The all-weather floor mats also get a material that’s similar to what you might see at the bottom of Carhartt tool bags.
Pricing adjustments are coming too; performance gets tweaked
In addition to the debut of the Carhartt edition, Ford is also debuting the Tremor Low and the Raptor Low. These two models are designed to lower the entry price, with the Tremor Low trading its Lariat origins for the STX trim. This downgrade does come at the cost of some interior quality and features, but it shaves $5,300 off the price. The Raptor Low also follows the same core script, and the frills it lost to the budget hammer also shaved $4,000 off the base price.
Performance for the 2027 F-150 is mostly carried over, but the 2.7-liter V6 gets the boot for a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. The new engine shares some of its construction with the 2.7-liter, but the added displacement helps boost torque slightly. The 5.0-liter V8 is also carried over, but Ford is now offering it in all models from the base XL to the luxurious Platinum model. This could be a response to Ram, which has been adding the Hemi V8 back into its lineup of pickups.
How Much?

Ford didn’t release a complete pricing breakdown of the F-150 but did confirm a base 2027 rear-wheel drive XL model will start at $40,585, including the $2,795 destination charge. The stylish Carhartt is expected to start at $65,455, but it remains to be seen if that price sticks, since rising diesel fuel prices could force Ford to increase the destination charge.
Look for pricing for the rest of the 2027 Ford F-150 lineup to be released over the next few months as the company prepares to roll it out nationwide to dealerships.
