If you’re an automaker, the task of bringing customers into showrooms is tougher than ever before. More Gen Z and even some Gen Alpha buyers are entering the car market and many of them don’t want anything to do with the whole driving scene.

That reduces sales and Kia knows it. A new report suggests the brand is planning a new sport sedan to draw in buyers who would otherwise do their driving in Forza or Grand Theft Auto.

A true slice of performance for gamers?

The surprise confirmation came from Kia’s design boss Karim Habib who was interviewed about the subject for Autocar. Habib revealed Kia is looking to explore vehicles beyond SUVs and is willing to explore other segments. One such segment is the sedan market and the exec revealed it is working on an all-electric model with a fastback version also being developed that’s “90-percent production ready.”

The lack of an internal combustion engine is not by accident either, with Habib claiming that younger buyers don’t have as much interest in these powerplants as older buyers. Habib also revealed the model is attempting to forge an emotional connection with buyers with the vehicle being based on the Vison Meta Turismo concept which appeared during Milan Design Week 2026 and was a futuristic preview of the brand’s plans.

What can we expect?

Look for the production version of this concept to still offer bold styling but it will be toned down to help comply with various safety regulations and costs of scale. The interior of the concept had a button free interior which promised to provide a cleaner cabin layout but look for this to give way to some buttons and dials to help improve usability.

The model could also be marketed as an indirect successor to the axed Stinger but selling it as such would be a tough sell for some buyers. The Stinger was known for providing sharp handling and potent performance from its twin-turbocharged V6. Asking buyers familiar with this engine to give the all-electric powertrain a chance may be tougher than Kia thinks but at the same time, the sedan and its fastback counterpart would be a pair of good halo models for Kia.
