Nissan recently made waves when it confirmed it would be doubling the amount of performance models in its global inventory and it has followed up by offering a glimpse at one potential model with a brief tease of a mysterious Nismo concept that will make its appearance at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 in January.

Nismo is cooking something spicy

As expected, Nissan and Nismo chose to only release one teaser image but this teaser image does reveal the concept will have chunky wheel wells and a reworked rear bumper. The shape doesn’t tell us much about exactly what kind of car this concept could be (it could be just about anything) but the rear lighting is slightly reminiscent of the Rogue CUV.

If this concept is indeed Rogue based, it would fit in with Nissan’s plans to expand the Rogue’s appeal to a wider range of consumers. The Rock Creek we evaluated a short while back at Holly Oaks is attempting to appeal to the trail warriors so a spicier Nismo-badged version (the styling package currently available doesn’t count) could potentially win over buyers looking to inject more fun and some style into their commute. Until Nissan reveals more information, we get to guess about the rest of the details.

What else is Nissan bringing?

Along with the concept, Nissan will also be bringing three other new vehicles to the show. They include a refreshed version of the Fairlady Z (aka the “Z” here in the states) an Autech version of the Leaf CUV, and the wild X-Trail Rock Creek Multibed Wildplay SUV.

The company is also paying a small homage to the past with two other vehicles. The first is a restored version of the classic March hatchback which got a manual transmission conversion for drivers looking for more involvement in their commute. The last one is a distinctively modern throwback with the 2016 vintage Autech GT-R Super GT series racer making an appearance to honor the retirement of veteran driver Tsugio Matsuda.
