Lincoln has been on a renaissance in recent years. A renewed and much-needed product surge has allowed the luxury brand to have the freshest lineup its had in years with sales also going up for 2025 despite a large drop in November.

However, all of this success is due to just one model, the full-size Lincoln Navigator which is currently providing the brand with a lifeline that’s keeping the lights on at Lincoln

Navigator is leading the sales charge, but highlights a problem

Lincoln’s Navigator is leading strong sales push for luxury brand.

When compared to some of the brand’s other models, the revamped Lincoln Navigator has had a breakout year with Lincoln selling 19,393 of them through November which is a 42.9% increase over what the SUV did at the same time last year. This also despite a slight decrease in sales for the month.

The Navigator’s strong sales performance is a big boon to Lincoln but it also reveals that it literally has the world of Lincoln on its shoulders since its other models: Corsair, Nautilus, and Aviator are all struggling with persistent sales declines.

This is a problem in the long-term since Lincoln does need a more diverse lineup of sales hits in key segments to help spread the load though it’s important to note that the Corsair and Aviator have not had a major reboot yet.

Navigator is flexing its new wares

The questionable contirbutions of its brand mates aside, the Navigator is benefitting from being all-new for 2025. Whilethe SUV is not an all-out reboot, it’s a heavy revamp with the interior getting several items from the Nautilus. They include the large sweeping infotainment screen and several Navigator exclusive touches to help boost its tech game too.

Updated interior brings Navigator to te modern age.

Performance for the Gator continues to come from a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with Lincoln opting to keep this engie for both production simplicity and familiarity with consumers especially buyers who might want to use the SUV to tow larger items.

Part of a broader trend

While the Navigator is doing a good job contirbuting its own magic to sales, it’s also benefitting from a broader upswing in full-size SUV sales. It’s butter rival the Cadillac Escalade saw its numbers go up by 27.6% year-over-year to 35,707 units sold with the Chevrolet Suburban seeing its figures go up to over 42,000 units.

The increase in sales is part of a broader trend in the segment, but the Navigator is also being forced to make up for slow sales from the Aviator, Corsair, and Nautilus.

It also goes to show that bigger is better in the minds of consumers but with the Corsair ending production, Lincoln will be down to three SUVs. While it would be cool to see the brand embrace its car heritage and perhaps bring back an all-electric Continental sedan, Ford execs have made it clear that those days are over. Instead, look for the brand to make do with what it has for a few more years but perhaps being an electrified utility to the lineup to give Lincoln something that can compete with the Escalade IQ.
