Toyota has made it clear that it intends to shakeup the supercar segment with the Lexus LC500 being sacrificed to help make room for this latest injection of fun. But while the GR GT has commanded the spotlight, it was not known if Lexus would get in on the act.

However, we now know that the luxury brand will indeed get its own seat at the supercar table with a new teaser not only confirming the model but also a bonus track focused special.

Spreading the wealth

A production version of the Sport Concept is coming.

Like other teasers we have seen, the GR badged supercar is front and center and it’s clear that the model will be the spearhead of Toyota’s efforts. However, this new image presents a second vehicle on the left with the taillight design being nearly identical to the Lexus Sport Concept.

Adding a Lexus equivalent will help the company make better use of the platform while also giving potential customers a more bespoke alternative to the GR if they choose to add it to their fleet. The unnamed Lexus variant would not only be a spiritual successor to the LFA, but also a more direct replacement for the soon to be departed LC giving Lexus a fresh entry in the high performance car market.

This confirmed model would be a direct replacement for the LC500.

Both models are expected to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with rumors suggesting it will feature some form of electrification. If this pans out, the new engine would be a liter smaller than the existing 5.0-liter V8 used in the LC and the IS500.

When will we see it?

Thankfully, the wait will not be too long with all three of these vehicles making their official debut in Japan on December 5th. We look forward to hearing more information about exactly what’s going on under the hood as well as a rough launch window for the trio. However, look for the two street versions to give dealerships a welcome piece of eye candy to lure in customers even as market conditions continue to shift.
