With all of the recalls Ford has managed to do in 2026, it seems like the Blue Oval has had the spotlight all to itself. But Stellantis is now being forced to issue a recall of its own, calling back 1.3 million Ram pickups due to faulty seatbelt anchors.
A recall eight years in the making

This recall focuses on 1.3 million pickups stretching all the way back to the 2019 model year, with the affected models not having properly attached seat belt anchors. These anchors are normally attached to the body structure, but in these trucks, the faulty anchors could create a safety risk for second-row passengers if the truck is involved in a collision.
The unusual aspect of this recall is that it took Stellantis eight years to finally figure out the problem. It’s not known exactly why it took so long to find the issue, but while no fatalities were reported, one injury is possibly related to the defective anchors. The recall formally targets 1,271,294 US-market Ram 1500 trucks, but Canada and Mexico are also responsible for 156,138 and 15,088 units between the two countries. Rounding out the list is another 74,084 trucks that were sold in international markets.
How is this being fixed?

Owners will be contacted by Stellantis, but not all trucks need the service
Stellantis revealed that it will be contacting owners of the affected trucks in all markets. Once contacted, owners can schedule an appointment with their dealer to inspect the anchors, with the company saying “dealers will inspect the second-row center and second-row driver seat belt buckle anchor and, if necessary, properly attach it to the vehicle’s body structure.”
The fix will be done for free, but the company is most likely performing an internal investigation at the plant to find out why a problem like this flew under the radar for as long as it did. Occasionally, things can happen on the inspection floor before these vehicles are shipped out, but look for the company to learn from this incident for future vehicle launches.
