Ford revealed that it will be expanding the Bronco family by two for 2026 and while we get to wait a bit to see the second one, the company and RTR chose to unveil the first one under the lights of the Detroit Auto Show, the 2027 Bronco RTR.

Bronco RTR is a unique breed

Vaugh Gitten Jr’s RTR has been upgrading Mustangs and Broncos for a long time but this RTR is the first time the company has teamed-up with Ford for a factory-built version of its custom Bronco.

While the RTR does borrow some components from the Bronco Raptor including its cooling fan, reps at the show made it clear that the RTR will be its own distinct entry in the family. The RTR gets 33.0-inch tires standard and Ford also includes a high clearance suspension system that slightly increases lift. Lime green accents are scattered about and the front grille even gets RTR’s signature lighting treatment.

@Ford Motor Company and RTR worked their magic on the Bronco to create the all new Bronco RTR. Some bits are lifted from the Raptor version but RTR made numerous styling and mechanical changes including its on-board ant-lag system for the engine. Power comes from Ford’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with Gitten Jr saying he preferred to use this engine due to its light weight and its immense potential for tuning. Horsepower numbers and views of the interior were not released but the RTR will come with an anti-lag feature that keeps the turbo spinning to help make responses more consistent and reduce the amount of time customers have to wait for the turbo to spool up to get more power.

The Sasquatch package is available too with the 33s being replaced by bigger 35-inch tires and the HOSS Suspension system which was previously limited to the Badlands variant.

How much?

With all of the flashy imagery Ford had on hand at its event, the subject of final pricing was ever brought up. However, it appears the RTR will be attempting to create a sweet spot in pricing between the Badlands and the Raptor. “Bronco RTR is a new sweet spot for performance value and style in the lineup,” said Haley Skiko, Bronco brand manager. “We’re delivering Raptor-inspired high-speed capability with a lower starting price than Badlands Sasquatch.”

The Bronco RTR will thunder its way to dealerships later this year with ordering set to begin sometime in October. Look for more information including pics of the interior and pricing to be revealed over the next few months.
